Webhosting.uk.com (webhosting.uk.com) has launched cloud-based SharePoint VPS hosting services. The new plans offer 100% uptime guarantee. All servers are based on Hyper-V virtualization systems.
According to WebHostingUK representatives quoted by TheWHIR: the WebHostingUK the “SharePoint VPS products are perfect for companies looking to outsource their existing SharePoint services to a fault tolerant infrastructure”.
According to Webhosting.uk.com news release the company’s cloud cluster are hosted in a Tier IV facility. In an event of hardware failure, Cloud VM’s automatically migrate from the failed servers to other nodes part of the cloud, preventing major service outage.
WebHostingUK says offers three different SharePoint Virtual Private Servers that feature: MsSQL 2008 Standard Edition, IIS7, Administrator RDP Login, dedicated RAM and CPU, FrontPage Extensions and ODBC support.
The company says that each of their VPS server has its own Active Directory and SharePoint instance enabling the user complete control.

The company said that the service is priced at GBP 10/month+VAT. The service can be used to automatically back up 1TB of data, transferring it via SSL and storing it encrypted within a its UK data center.
Backups upload only incremental changes to files meaning that bandwidth usage is kept to a minimum.
Fastshosts said that their Online Backup service fulfills an important requirement for all businesses in protecting valuable business data and files from loss or corruption. The company also explains that storage capacity is selected according to requirements and can be increased dynamically from 10 Gigabytes to 1 Terabyte.
The user is not limited to specific hardware for utilizing the service and can up- or downscale at any time and therefore only pays for their required usage. All data backups are uploaded over SSL to provide a secure transmission, and the data is stored encrypted within the secure data center. Its Online Backup uses software to analyze files marked for backup so only incremental changes are uploaded. By sending only changes to files, the amount of data transfer is significantly reduced, meaning lower ADSL bandwidth usage costs and time is saved.
